Specialty Coffee Process

bg-loobook

WASHED

Organic matter is stripped off of the coffee bean within days of the coffee cherry being plucked from the tree and then washed with water before they are dried.
bg-loobook

NATURAL

Natural sundried also called Natural Process. Drying coffee cherries whole without the intervention of water or machines to remove any of the fruit.
bg-loobook

HONEY

A method in which the fresh coffee cherries are de-pulped, but allowed to dry without washing. Some of the fruit is still there, but not nearly as much as in the natural process.

About our coffee

Caturra

The Caturra bean, discovered in Brazil in the early 20th century, is a mutation of the Bourbon variety, with an interesting modification that causes a "dwarfism" that makes the bean very small. Because the bean is so small, so is the tree, allowing farms to plant them closer together, which in turn allows for much higher yields than larger bean varieties.

Maracaturra

Known as the Elephant bean, Maracaturra is a natural mutation of the Typica bean that makes it especially large compared to other beans. Its leaves are also large and are susceptible to leaf rust, making it a high maintenance tree. Because it is usually located more than 1,200 meters above sea level, the growth process of the bean is much slower, allowing it to grow larger and stronger.
